Edgar the coonhound was rescued by the Lambert family and he’s been a great addition to their Waynesboro, Pennsylvania home since they adopted him last year. But now the pooch is treasured even more because Thom Lambert credits Edgar with saving his three little girls from a would-be kidnapper. Someone broke into their house in the middle of the night and Edgar barked and howled so loudly, the intruder ran off.
Police later arrested a suspect who had abducted a four-year-old girl from the area a few days earlier and he admitted to breaking into the Lambert’s house, but says he bolted after the dog started barking. Now the family knows Edgar protected them and Thom says, “We've got a story to tell forever: Hero dog."
