A Capitol Fourth 2020 Offers Star Studded Salute to America featuring Vanessa Williams, The Temptations, Brantley Gilbert, Brian Stokes Mitchell and more! Kyle McMahon has got the interviews for Pop Culture Weekly.
For its 40th anniversary, the PBS annual special, A Capitol Fourth, will look a bit different this year. With the coronavirus pandemic still plaguing our country, the producers of the show wisely decided to skip inviting hundreds of thousands of people to come to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building for their annual celebration of America's birthday. Much like the beautiful National Memorial Day Concert in May, the show will safely commemorate the United States 244th birthday, with socially distant performances from around the country.
The temporary change hasn't affected the caliber of talent that is participating. Once again, A Capitol Fourth brings a star studded lineup of incredible performers from film, television, music and stage. John Stamos, America's favorite uncle, returns to host, this year with Vanessa Williams joining him. And no matter what your flavor of music is, A Capitol Fourth is bringing it to you. Country stars Brantley Gilbert and Lauren Alaina will perform, while Trace Adkins returns to perform after his electrifying performance at the National Memorial Day Concert in May.
The legendary Patti LaBelle will take the stage, as will John Fogerty. Andy Grammer and Gospel icon Yolanda Adams will also perform. This Is Us star Chrissy Metz will perform a special tribute, while legendary group The Temptations will do a medley. Broadway stars Brian Stokes Mitchell will perform, as will Kelli O'Hara (The King And I), Mandy Gonzalez (In The Heights) operatic Soprano Renee Fleming.
A Capitol Fourth airs Saturday July 4th at 8pm EST on PBS, as well as Facebook and YouTube. You can watch the show on demand the following two weeks.
