Don't let the pandemic stop you from enjoying a great night out, here's 7 drive-in movie theaters in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey
With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to intensify, movie theaters around the country remain closed. Drive-in movie theaters are booming, however, so it's great time to look at what drive-in movie theaters are in our area. I've collected a list of 7 drive-in movie theaters in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Delaware Drive In Movie Theaters
Lefty's Alley and Eats
Lewes, Delaware (Mostly) Seven Nights A Week
Lefty's Alley and Eats is known for their incredible food, but with Lefty's Summer Drive In, they're bringing that food right to your car so you can watch a movie and dine on delicious eats at the same time. With one screen, currently, this is Delaware's only drive in movie theater.
Pennsylvania Drive In Movie Theaters
The Mahoning Drive-In Theater
Lehighton, Pennsylvania Fridays - Tuesdays
Opened in 1949, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater is a drive-in for true film lovers. The programming of their double feature films are typically put together by themes. Upcoming themes include a Batman weekend and Videogame Weekend and Tuesday nights feature genre and cult films. To add to the unique experience, you can buy a pass to stay overnight on the grounds and really make a weekend out of it. Dogs are allowed!
Shankweiler's Drive-In Theater
Orefield, Pennsylvania Seven Nights A Week
Billed as America's oldest drive-in theater, Shankweiler's Drive-In Theater offers a nightly double feature and classic drive-in. Opened in 1934, Shankweiler's has the drive-in theater experience down pat.
Becky's Drive-In Theater
Walnutport, Pennsylvania Seven Nights A Week
Opened in 1946, Becky's Drive-In Theater has perfected the drive-in movie theater experience. Showing two different double features on their two screens, you can find a great night for everyone here. With burgers and BBQ to fresh hot funnel cakes, Becky's Drive-In Theater has a great selection of foods. Becky's is also pet friendly, so bring along your dog for a great, inexpensive night of Americana.
New Jersey Drive In Movie Theaters
Delsea Drive-In Theater
Vineland, New Jersey Thursdays - Sundays
Delsea Drive-In Theater offers a huge menu with a variety of different foods for every taste. Thoughtfully, they also offer both gluten free options as well as Atkins options for the low carb eaters. They have two screens that each play a double feature nightly and pets are welcomed on Sundays!
Maryland Drive In Movie Theaters
Bengies Drive-In Theater
Middle River, Maryland Fridays - Wednesdays
Bengies Drive-In Theater boasts the biggest movie screen in the country. With a large menu of food and a whole slew of deserts, Bengies offers a nightly double feature of movie duos like Jaws and Jurassic Park. Dogs are allowed, with restrictions. Their tickets often sell out, so make sure to plan ahead and purchase your tickets.
Ocean City Drive-In Movies
Ocean City, Maryland Mondays & Tuesdays
While the town of Ocean City has cancelled their "Movies on the Beach" event this Summer, instead, they've started the Ocean City Drive-In Movies. Located at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, this event features a free, family friendly movie each Monday and Tuesday.
Let me know what you think! Personally, I'm hoping to visit all of these over the Summer. I'm so excited to visit, that I may do a whole piece on my Summer Drive-In movie theater tour. Stay in touch and let me know what you're seeing. As always, find out all of the latest news, views and reviews - and featuring celebrity interviews - on my show Pop Culture Weekly.
