Pop Culture Weekly REVIEW - Hotel Transylvania: Transformania Is A Delightfully Fun Ride with a Star Studded Cast

10 years ago, Hotel Transylvania was released to theaters and became an instant hit. The feel good film spawned two more sequels, a video game, three graphic novels and numerous shorts. Now, the franchise spawns its fourth - and potentially final - sequel, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. But is it good?

The answer is an astounding "Yes!" Hotel Transylvania: Transformania transforms the franchise for a fourth hilarious adventure that's just as amazingly enjoyable for adults as it is for kids. Packing an all star cast including Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Keegan-Michael Key, Fran Drescher, David Spade, Molly Shannon, Steve Buscemi, Katherine Hahn and Jim Gaffigan, the film follows Drac as he and the gang are accidentally transformed into humans by Johnny on the eve of his retirement announcement. What follows is a "fish out of water" - uh - transformation of the franchise as the laughs roll in while these characters we've grown so fond of are turned into just regular folk.

As a horror fan, I've loved the Hotel Transylvania films since its inception as it's a fun way to enjoy these iconic characters in a fresh way. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is a totally inventive idea for the fourth feature length entry, where most franchises are rehashing plots and jumping the shark. It really is so much fun to see a totally new side to these characters we’ve come to love over the last decade. The transformations include Keegan-Michael Key - who plays Murray the Mummy - transforming from the classic mummy design we all know to a very old, very short man. Drac looks more like a country club Dad than the ominous but lovable vampire we know.

For a film franchise a decade in, there is absolutely nothing to complain about and everything to love. From the character design choices to the incredible voice talent, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is riotous and full of heart. While there is talk of the feature length films ending with this installment, I truly hope it doesn't end here. And once you see Hote; Transylvania: Transformania, you won't want it to end either.

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
