I was totally stoked to be at the Red Carpet premiere of Book Club: The Next Chapter, where I had the chance to chat with the film's iconic cast and creative masterminds. Proudly standing next to viral star Kalen Allen on the red carpet, I spoke with writer / director Bill Holderman, writer Erin Simms as well as stars Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Don Johnson and Grace Truly. I also chatted with Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin and her daughter Allie, to see what they think of Book Club: The Next Chapter!

A Journey Behind the Scenes
I had an incredible few days immersing myself in the world of Book Club: The Next Chapter as I sat down to talk with the cast about the challenges of filming in Italy, discussed the importance of embracing life and adventure at any age, and heard candid reflections on aging in the entertainment industry from the legendary stars. Between them, there are numerous Oscar wins, even more Oscar nominations, multiple Emmy Awards and just about every other award ever given in show business. Every reply from these women is a masterclass for people of any age.
The Power of Friendship and Aging in Hollywood
One of the key themes of Book Club: The Next Chapter is the importance of embracing life at any age. The film's stars, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen, (who range in age from 70 - 85 years young) shared their thoughts on how society often overlooks the fact that people of all ages are still going through the same struggles as anyone else, and how it is important to look forward while not apologizing for our age. As I told the ladies in our sit-down interview, they seemed to have more fun shooting this film in their 70's & 80's than I've ever had in my entire life - combined.
The Creative Minds Behind the Film
I also had the pleasure of speaking with the film's writers, Bill Holderman (who also directed) and Erin Simms, who discussed their experience writing for characters who are not their own age. They emphasized the importance of creating authentic and human characters that are still going through the same life experiences as younger people, and the power of showing that it is possible to have a fun and exciting life at any age. This fun creative team served the same roles in the first film, Book Club, back in 2018. The film went on to gross $105 million on a budget of just $14 million.
