Lauren Daigle brings Faith, Family and Fireworks to A Capitol Fourth 2025

There are certain voices that just hit different. You hear them, and suddenly everything slows down. That’s exactly what happened when Lauren Daigle stepped onto the stage for rehearsals for A Capitol Fourth 2025 - with a voice like velvet and a huge heart full of gratitude.

I caught up with Lauren on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol just after she stepped off the stage of rehearsals for the big show and - no surprise - she was as warm, kind and as grounded as you’d hope.

Performing for millions on national television? Not a big deal for Lauren, but this night isn’t just about the stage. It is about who was there with her.

In my interview with Lauren on Pop Culture Weekly, she said: “I got to bring my family, my parents. Last night, my mom said, ‘Lauren, do you realize this is the closest I’ve ever been to the Capitol?’ It was such a sweet moment.”

That’s the kind of thing that sticks with you. This isn’t just a performance - it is a memory in the making.

One of Lauren’s standout moments of the night was her powerful performance of Rescue - a song already packed with emotion, made even more moving by who joined her on stage: real-life first responders.

“When they asked me to sing Rescue with first responders behind me, I said, ‘Do you want me to sing - or just cry? My brother is a first responder, so this is personal. Any time we can honor those who keep this country safe, I’m all in.”

And she meant it. You could feel it in her voice, in the reverence of the moment. It is one of those rare times when a performance becomes something bigger.

From Idol Rejection to Grammy Recognition

In case you forgot (or never knew), Lauren Daigle tried out for American Idol not once but twice. And both times? She was told no. But don’t worry because this story has a glow-up.

“I remember Simon Cowell said no, and I walked out with tears in my eyes. My mom looked at me and said, ‘Lauren, you can either believe the no of man or the yes of God. That moment lit a fire in me. If it hurts, it means you care. And I knew right then - I really cared.”

Spoiler alert: the music industry eventually caught up. She’s now a Grammy winner with one of the most recognizable voices in the business.

I asked her what she hopes people take away from a Lauren Daigle performance and her answer was pure Lauren.

“I just want to spread hope. The hope of Christ. The hope that someone is for you, not against you. When people see me, I want them to see His goodness reflected.”

In a world that can sometimes feel like chaos, Lauren Daigle is showing up with steady light, sincere faith and a message that never goes out of style: hope.

Between honoring first responders, sharing deeply personal stories, and lighting up the Capitol with her voice, Lauren Daigle reminded us what the Fourth of July should feel like: connection, compassion and a little bit of wonder.

Catch her performance (and maybe have tissues ready) for A Capitol Fourth 2025 on PBS, PBS.org & YouTube July 4th at 8pm EST and then on demand and streaming through July 18.
