Review: The Conjuring Last Rites – A Terrifying Final Chapter for the Warrens & A Satisfying Conclusion for Fans
The Conjuring: Last Rites proves once again that the Warrens just won’t quit, and honestly? Thank God for that. If this is indeed the final chapter in the main Conjuring series, it’s going out swinging - with creepy atmosphere, sharp scares and yes, more “don’t go in there” moments than my blood pressure was prepared for. James Wan and director Michael Chaves keep the franchise’s signature mix of old-school dread and modern slickness alive, making this feel less like a tacked-on sequel and more like a real event.
But here’s the thing - and this is where The Conjuring films always shine - it’s not just about demons, crucifixes and things that go bump in the night. At its core, The Conjuring: Last Rites is a story about love, loyalty and the power of family. Strip away the possession scenes and creepy ghouls, and what you’ve got is a drama about people willing to risk everything for each other. That’s why these movies hit so hard: the horror is chilling, sure, but it’s the heart that sticks with you long after the credits roll.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson once again carry the film with performances that make you believe in both the supernatural and in true partnership. Their chemistry has always been the franchise’s secret weapon, and Last Rites doubles down on that bond - it’s like watching a horror movie and a family drama at the same time. Add in some killer set pieces (literally), a few new twists on demonic terror and a finale that actually feels earned, and you’ve got a sendoff worthy of the Warren name.
Bottom line: The Conjuring: Last Rites is scary, yes. Terrifying, even. But more than that, it’s soulful. It’s a love letter to the fans, to the characters, and to the idea that even when evil is clawing at the walls, family is the thing that saves us. Last Rites brings the story of Ed and Loraine Warren to a satisfying conclusion, bringing fans full circle in a franchise that has spanned 9 films over more than a decade. It’s the perfect ending to characters and stories we’ve loved. And while I hate to see them go, they’re going out with one helluva bang.
