1. Jussie Smollett has been sentenced to probation and 150 days in jail for charges related to a hate crime he was convicted of staging. The sentencing hearing was long – both in time and drama. The six-hour hearing included a victim impact statement from the City of Chicago and hours of testimony from character witnesses. Aside from jail and probation, Smollett was fined $25-thousand and ordered to pay more than $120-thousand in restitution to the City of Chicago. In a dramatic moment, Smollett not only declared his innocence, but that he "is not suicidal"

3. A new AAA survey finds just weeks ago, when gas prices were at $3.53 a gallon, two-thirds of Americans thought that was way too high. 59% of Americans insisted that if gas prices went over $4, which they have, they would change their lifestyle or driving habits. Changes include driving less, possible carpooling, bundling trips and errands, reducing shopping and dining out. 52% of Americans are planning a summer trip, with 42% saying that they won’t change those plans no matter what the price of gas is.
