Stopping for selfies could cost you big bucks in certain parts of Italy. The mayor of Portofino, Matteo Viacava, says tourists stopping at various landmarks for pictures has become nothing short of “anarchic chaos” with people blocking streets and creating serious traffic jams.
Therefore, between the hours of 10:30am and 6pm, restrictions are now in place for two of the famous spots that lookyloos love to linger at. Visitors caught snapping selfies during those hours are subject to a fine that comes out to just over $300.
