Daily Do Good: Boy Calls 911 So He Can Hug An Officer

Last week, Deputy Scott Pracht from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Florida went to a home in response to a 911 call. The homeowner hadn’t called the police, but she had her young son come to the door. The boy admitted to calling 911 on the old, disconnected phone his parents gave him, but he had the best reason as to why: he wanted to give the policeman a hug.

Pracht got his hug from the boy before kindly explaining the purpose of 911 to him. He also shared examples of when 911 should be used. The encounter ended with a friendly fist bump, leaving a positive impression on everyone involved.

Video of the heartwarming incident was shared on social media by the sheriff's office and has garnered over 20-thousand views. Commenters to the video praised the deputy and expressed their admiration for his response to the boy’s well-intentioned act of kindness.
