Daily Do Good: Pro Surfer Teaches Her Grandma To Surf At 80

During a recent family trip to Fiji, professional surfer Brisa Hennessy taught her grandmother, Donna Holmes, how to surf. The surfing lesson was a way to celebrate Holmes' 80th birthday, proving that age is just a number when it comes to learning new skills. Hennessy, a Costa Rican surfing professional, was thrilled to share her passion for surfing with her adventurous grandma.

The experience started with Hennessy giving her gram a quick lesson while they were on dry land. Then they ventured out in the water together on a shared surfboard. Before their adventure, Holmes joked about the danger of surfing at her age, but she actually did great, riding more than one wave to the cheers of her granddaughter and other surfers in the water.

Hennessy says her grandmother, whose active lifestyle included yoga and line dancing, is a lively and adventurous person, full of enthusiasm for life. She hopes that their story will inspire others to get out there and learn something new, no matter your age. In the end, it wasn’t clear who enjoyed the experience more, Holmes or her proud granddaughter.
