Daily Do Good: Woman Finds Forgotten Lottery Ticket That’s A Million Winner

A warehouse worker from Maryland discovered a forgotten Powerball ticket in her wallet and decided to check if she’d won anything. To her surprise, the ticket from the September 27th drawing was worth $1-million! She’d bought the ticket at a convenience store in Snow Hill back when the Powerball jackpot was at $835-million, but forgot about it after not winning the big prize.

When the woman found the ticket, she didn't expect much, but wanted to see if it was a winner. Her husband scanned it at a retailer and was shocked to see the million-dollar prize. At first, he thought it might be a mistake. “There were a lot of zeros. I thought it was some type of promotional message,” the husband recalls, “I scanned it again and got the same numbers.” But after confirming with the store clerk, they realized they’d actually won.

The couple plans to use the money to pay off their mortgage and donate to an animal rescue. And the retailer who sold the winning ticket received a $25-hundred bonus.
