Earlier this week, a California search and rescue crew successfully found a missing hiker, Ki Soo Yang, a 78-year-old experienced climber who went missing on August 17th while hiking in the Angeles National Forest. The San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team, along with others, searched tirelessly for nearly 30 hours. During the search, the team unexpectedly encountered comedian Jay Leno, who was meeting friends, though he wasn’t of much help in finding the missing hiker.
After the celebrity encounter, the search continued with the help of some additional resources, including search dogs. Eventually, the rescue team received a crucial tip from a good Samaritan who had seen the missing hiker. Thanks to this information, the team was able to locate Yang in good health but dehydrated, and he was safely airlifted out of the forest and reunited with his family.
In a post to social media, the San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team expressed gratitude for the support they received, citing the community involvement in the success of the search and rescue mission. They also acknowledged the vital role that the good Samaritan and the broader hiking community played in ensuring Yang’s safe return.
