Daily Do Good: Ohio Pharmacist Saves 2 Lives During 1 Shift

Last week, pharmacist Megan Alt was working a shift at a Kroger in Dayton, Ohio, when she responded to a medical emergency at the store’s drive-thru. A customer began having convulsions, prompting Alt to grab an EpiPen, rush out through the fire door and administer the medication before calling 911. Later during that same shift, a security guard notified her about someone unconscious in the restroom, and Alt administered Narcan and again called for emergency assistance.

Kroger praised Alt’s quick thinking and action, saying, “We’re so proud of Megan for taking extraordinary measures to care for her patients when they needed it most.” Alt has degrees in pharmaceutical science and pharmacy from Cedarville University, where she completed her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2021. Her actions drew admiration from both her employer and her alma mater.

Cedarville University also issued a statement recognizing her efforts, saying, “The Cedarville University School of Pharmacy, along with Megan’s colleagues at Kroger, congratulate Megan on serving others well.”
