DDG: Missing Dog Found 300 Miles From Home In Public Bathroom 8 Years Later

A dog who went missing in 2017 during Hurricane Harvey was recently found in a public bathroom at Cameron Park in Waco, Texas. At the time of the storm, the pup, Blue, had slipped away after the fence at her family’s Corpus Christi home was destroyed. She was just two years old.

Last week, a good Samaritan discovered Blue alone in the park bathroom and took her to the Pet Circle Regional Animal Center. Staff scanned her for a microchip and discovered she was registered to a family 300 miles away. When contacted, Blue’s family was overwhelmed with emotion and thrilled to hear she’d been found safe after nearly eight years.

The rescuer arranged to meet Blue’s family halfway between Waco and Corpus Christi for the reunion. Pet Circle is using the opportunity to remind pet owners of the value of microchipping pets. They also shared photos of Blue during her ride home and reunion with her owner.
