Last week, Donna Morey celebrated her 80th birthday at a Phillies vs. Mets game with her family, hoping to finally bring home a foul ball after years of attending games. During the fifth inning, nine-year-old Phillies fan Jameson Pennings caught his first game ball and proudly admired it with his dad. Later, after overhearing Morey’s daughter mention the birthday wish, Jameson decided to give his prized ball to Morey as a gift.
The boy’s father shared the story in a social media post, describing how Jameson briefly thought about the choice before walking over to hand the ball to the birthday celebrant. After the game, Morey asked him to sign the ball and took pictures together, sharing how amazed she was at the gesture. She says she felt blessed to experience such a meaningful moment on her milestone birthday.
In a final inning twist, the Phillies’ ball girl gave Jameson another foul ball, making sure that he didn’t leave empty-handed. Both families left with lasting memories, and Jameson’s parents said how proud they were of their son’s kindness. “We’re doing something right and everybody saw it,” his mother said, touched by her son’s selfless decision.
