A tennis match at a resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, turned into a life-saving situation when a man collapsed from cardiac arrest. Bill Jordan had been playing with friends when he suddenly fell and lost consciousness. He later said he doesn’t remember anything from the moment he arrived to play until he was being transported to another hospital.
Fortunately, Dianne McClenahan was on a nearby court when the incident occurred and rushed to help when she heard calls for help. She found Jordan with no pulse and immediately began CPR, while tennis director Joe D’Aleo assisted and used a defibrillator. Their quick actions restarted Jordan’s heart before first responders arrived.
He later underwent triple bypass surgery and has since fully recovered. Earlier this week, the South Walton Fire District awarded McClenahan and D’Aleo medals for their efforts, and Jordan thanked everyone involved in saving his life.
