People across Atlanta rallied to help Tiffani McCloud reunite with her dog, Lola, after months of being apart. She had turned Lola over to Lifeline Animal Services when she found herself homeless, but she checked on her every day, sending messages asking the shelter volunteers to read to her pup.
RescueMeATL shared McCloud’s story online, leading to foster mom Vonya Miller stepping in to care for Lola. Miller, who’d once faced homelessness herself, said she wanted to pay forward the help she’d received. Donations started pouring in and soon totaled more than $15-thousand, enough to help McCloud get stable housing and prepare to bring Lola home.
After two months of being separated, she returned to the shelter for an emotional reunion. McCloud says the support she’s received gave her hope and made it possible for her to start rebuilding her life. She’s now secured a part-time job and says she and Lola are ready for their next chapter.
