DDG: Kindness Of Strangers Gives “Beat Up Truck” Driver Brand New Ride

A man in South Bend, Indiana, whose heavily damaged pickup truck went viral online has received a new vehicle thanks to community support. After seeing photos and videos of the truck, local business owner Colin Crowel of Carguys Auto Detailing launched a crowdfund to help the driver, Marcellus “Mo” Riles, get a safer and more reliable vehicle.

More than 500 people donated over $22-thousand to support the effort and Riles recently received a 2019 Chevy Silverado, the same model family as his original truck. During the reveal, he expressed gratitude, saying he felt blessed by the support he’s received.

Crowel says the goal was to help Riles have dependable transportation, especially because of his health challenges. He explains that the new vehicle will allow Riles to attend appointments, work, and handle daily errands reliably. Crowel also shares that local auto shops have offered to help with future maintenance so the truck can stay in good condition for years to come.
