DDG: Outback Steakhouse Worker Uses Own Money To Buy Dogs’ Final Meal

An employee at an Outback Steakhouse in Sparks, Nevada, carried out a quiet act of kindness for a family facing the loss of their two elderly dogs. Earlier this month, Marvin Gonzalez called the restaurant to order a final meal for his dogs, Raven and Bruno, who were nearing the end of their lives due to old age and cancer. The family wanted to honor the dogs with a special meal during an emotional time.

Without telling the family, an Outback employee paid for the entire order by using their complimentary staff meal and covering the remaining $35. Gonzalez only learned about the gesture later and says he was stunned that someone he’d never met would do something so generous. He describes the act as deeply meaningful during a devastating day.

Gonzalez wrote a letter to the restaurant’s general manager thanking the employee and praising the compassion shown. He says Raven and Bruno were like children to him and his wife, and that the kindness made the experience slightly more bearable. Gonzalez added that he didn’t think the employee realized how much their gesture truly mattered.
