While traveling through the Atlanta airport, a tired mother dealing with a child on the verge of a meltdown got an assist from a kind TGI Fridays waitress. Chalaine Kilduff says server Brittany Bell picked up her two-year-old before the tantrum escalated and carried him around the restaurant, introducing him to guests and grabbing some cherries from the kitchen for him. Kilduff captured the act of kindness and later shared it on social media.
The video quickly went viral, racking up over 4-million views and thousands of comments from people praising Bell’s kind act. The grateful mom responded by creating a crowdfund to give Bell the bonus she deserved. It soon raised more than $12-thousand from over 600 donors. Kilduff says many parents related to the stress of traveling with children and wanted to show appreciation for the waitress’ kindness.
Kilduff later launched the No Fear Foundation to help mothers facing difficult or critical medical diagnoses during pregnancy, inspired by her own family’s experience. Bell has partnered with her to support the effort, helping design a shirt that reads “I love you” in sign language and “Kindness is the cure.” The initiative aims to raise funds and provide support for mothers facing similar challenges.
