Why Quibi Is The Next Big Streaming Service

Why Quibi Is The Next Big Streaming Service & Why You'll Want To Log On

On April 6th, a new streaming service enters into the crowded field. But this is one that is definitely worth your time. It's called Quibi. Quibi, which stands for "quick bites" is a mobile first streaming platform founded by uber producer Jeffrey Katzenberg. Katzenberg's long history in the business, a former chairman of Walt Disney Studios and co-founder of Dreamworks with Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, means that he's made a lot of big hits and made a lot of friends along the way.

With decades of successes behind him, he created Quibi. Quibi aims to target those who are looking for amazing content in a shorter format. Most shows episodes run about 7 to 10 minutes each, while movies are broken up into chapters (or episodes) of about the same length.

Quibi Offers Three Different Categories of Programming

Quibi offers three different categories of programming. The first category is Movies In Chapters. Quibi's Movies in Chapters are 7-10 minute chapters of movies with an incredible lineup of talent behind them, both on screen and off. The lineup at launch includes Most Dangerous Game which is a dystopian thriller that features Liam Hemsworth attempting to save his pregnant wife before a terminal illness takes his life. Survive stars Sophie Turner as a suicidal woman who finds a new will to survive when the plane she's on crashes in the wilderness. Flipped is a comedy staring Will Forte, and Kaitlin Olson as a couple looking to become the next big TV home renovation couple when they get kidnapped by a drug cartel.

The second category is Unscripted Shows and Documentaries. The talent and creativity isn't lacking in this Quibi category either. Murder House Flip has a very unique take on the typical home makeover show, the twist being these are houses where grisly murders have occurred. Chrissy Tiegen stars in Chrissy's Court taking on real life small claims court cases, her mom Vilailuck Teigen, serving as the bailiff. (See my Chrissy's Court review here). Dishmantled features the hilarious Tituss Burgess overseeing a crazy series where two blindfolded chefs must identify and recreate the foods they were just blasted in the face by.

The final category on Quibi is Daily Essentials. Daily Essentials give viewers news, weather and information. A whole lineup of powerhouse News and media outlets are represented on Quibi's Daily Essentials including CBS News which will offer 60 in 6 - a condensed news program in just 6 minutes. NBC News and TMZ will offer twice daily shows, while EPSN will have a daily sports news show.

Quibi Is Mobile First

Quibi is the worlds first mobile first streaming platform built to be mobile first. This means that these 10 minute long or less episodes of content are perfect for on the go on your phone or iPad, or even in bed before you pass out for the night. Another unique feature of Quibi is the ability to watch the content in either landscape or portrait orientation on your phone. No matter which way you choose to watch it, the content will fill the screen accordingly.

Quibi launches Monday April 6th with the apps being available now! Pricing is $4.99 per month with ads or $7.99 per month with no ads. Get more information at Quibi.com
